Description

The Marnic Water Watch (Mains) is an intelligent infrared urinal flush controller designed to significantly reduce water consumption while maintaining excellent washroom hygiene. Using a wide-angle passive infrared (PIR) sensor, the system detects user activity and automatically controls the urinal flush cycle, ensuring water is only used when required.

Ideal for schools, offices, factories, leisure centres, stadiums, healthcare facilities and public washrooms, the Marnic Water Watch Mains helps eliminate unnecessary flushing during periods of low or no occupancy. As a result, it can deliver substantial water savings and lower utility costs while supporting environmentally responsible building management. The controller is designed to flush approximately 20 minutes after detecting use, preventing excessive flushing during busy periods. When no activity is detected, the system automatically performs a hygiene flush every 12 or 24 hours to keep the urinal system fresh and clean.

The mains-powered unit includes a durable control box with a discreet sensor suitable for wall or ceiling mounting, together with a 15mm compression solenoid valve that can be installed on either horizontal or vertical pipework. Its slim, vandal-resistant housing features a high-quality polycarbonate casing with a wipe-clean finish, making it suitable for demanding commercial environments. The microprocessor-controlled electronics and quartz crystal timing provide reliable long-term operation with minimal maintenance.

Whether you are upgrading an existing automatic cistern or installing a new commercial washroom, the Marnic Water Watch Mains provides a dependable and cost-effective solution for controlling water usage without compromising hygiene standards.

Opening & Closing

Lift the tab as shown to release the lid from the base.

Along the bottom edge a tongue and groove holds the lid to the base.

Installing the Mains Unit

  • Isolate the water supply
  • Cut the pipe & flush it out with water.
  • Fit the valve horizontally (vertically in the direction of the arrow), leaving the petcock in place to regulate the flow.

Mains power

  • Drill through both access ports on the base.
  • Run the mains cable (following wiring regulations) through the cable entry to the three terminal connector blocks and the valve cable to the circuit board terminal block.
  • There are four cable guides on the base. Leave a small valve cable loop inside the controller so that the lid can be removed. A terminal block is provided to extend the cable.
  • Mount the base on the wall or ceiling close to the urinals, Connect the blue lead (low volts) to the connector marked ‘power’.

Cistern fill settings – Empty

  • This step is critical because it tells the unit how long the cistern takes to flush. It can then release the water supply at the precise time required for the selected flush cycle.
  • Start with the cistern empty and the valve closed as show below.

Cistern fill settings – Fill

  • Open the valve into the position shown.
  • The LED will flash on detection.

Save time taken to fill setting

  • The time taken for the cistern to fill will now be memorised and used in all subsequent automatic flushes.
  • Note that only fill-times greater than 1 min. are saved.
  • The Water Watch is now fully operational
  • Close the lid.

Warning

Never leave the switch in the ‘open’ position.
If the LED is flashing, check that the switch is in the correct closed position.
Remember that only fill-times of greater than 1 minute will be saved.

Changing the Flush Settings

  • Links 1 & 2 set the flush cycle.
  • Link 3 sets the hygiene flush.

Note that the valve control switch should remain closed as shown for normal operation.
