Description
The Simpler Recycling Bin – Triple provides a practical and efficient waste segregation solution for commercial environments requiring durability, hygiene, and a professional appearance. Designed for three-stream waste collection, the unit contains three separate compartments within a single housing, making it ideal for separating general waste, recyclables, and food waste in workplaces and public areas.
Manufactured from high-grade steel with a powder-coated finish, the bin offers strength, durability, and corrosion resistance for long-term use. The powder-coated surface is available in a range of colours, allowing the unit to align with waste stream colour coding or existing interior schemes.
Each compartment includes a hinged lid, which can be configured as either fully enclosed or supplied with an opening slot depending on operational needs. Internally, bag holding brackets keep liners secure and concealed, helping maintain a clean and organised waste area. Internal dividers ensure each waste stream remains separated and reduces the risk of contamination.
The front of the unit features three independently opening doors, each fitted with a soft-close stop mechanism to prevent slamming and minimise noise during use. This makes the bin particularly suitable for offices, commercial kitchens, schools, and public-facing environments.
The robust construction and protective finish make the unit suitable for indoor and sheltered outdoor use. Its clean, angular design allows for easy cleaning and maintenance in high-traffic areas.
Manufactured by Sterinox, the Simpler Recycling Bin – Triple can be customised to suit specific project requirements, including alternative lid configurations or colour options.
The Simpler Recycling scheme is a UK Government initiative designed to standardise recycling collection across England. The aim is to make recycling clearer and more consistent for workplaces, households, and waste collectors by ensuring the same core materials are separated nationwide.
Under the scheme, most workplaces in England will be required to separate recyclable waste into defined waste streams, rather than disposing of everything in general waste. This supports improved recycling rates and reduces contamination.
What workplaces must separate
Businesses and non-domestic premises will need to arrange for the collection of:
- Dry recyclable materials (paper, cardboard, plastics, and metals)
- Food waste
- General waste
Some workplaces may also separate glass, depending on their waste collector arrangements.
The exact number of bins required will vary depending on the size of the organisation, available space, and waste collection provider, but the principle is that recyclable materials must be kept separate from general waste.
When the rules apply
The rollout of Simpler Recycling requirements for workplaces in England is scheduled in phases:
- From March 2025 — businesses and non-domestic premises must comply
- From March 2026 — local authorities must implement consistent household collections
(Always confirm requirements with your waste collection provider or local authority.)
Who the scheme applies to
The Simpler Recycling rules apply to most businesses, schools, hospitals, offices, retail premises, hospitality venues, and public sector buildings in England.
Any organisation that produces waste similar to household waste is expected to follow the new recycling separation requirements.
Why the scheme exists
The government introduced Simpler Recycling to:
- Improve national recycling rates
- Reduce recyclable material going to landfill
- Standardise recycling practices across England
- Make recycling easier for workplaces and staff
